Why aren't people are not having enough babies?

It should be noted that when they say "people are not having enough babies," they generally mean other groups are outbreeding my group. It is actually a VERY racist thing to say. Those are never the ones promoting support for others' kids, either. Mainly because they are in the "elite" class, but also because they really do not want to be outbred. Look at Elon's breeding program for example.

As to why people are having fewer babies, the Earth is already at 120% of sustainable capacity. So it is perfectly natural for population growth to be slowing. This has been expected for decades. Coupled with the trend toward crowding into cities, fewer deaths among kids, and senior support systems, people are seeing less need for spare children to care for them in old age. So fewer babies. People seem to assume we'll keep finding more and more ways to increase crop and livestock yields, which accounts for the lag in leveling off, but people are starting to see those gains level off as well as limits are reached, and climate change, which is also adding to the cost of having a family. Then the longer you put off having children till you can afford them, the desire tends to wane as the personal and financial costs increase. Not to mention your optimism for the lives those children will have.
